Ano Nuevo State Park, the sign whizzes by as I drive the RV south along US highway 101. The name caught my eye as it was one I had read in my California Surf Guide, “Damn” I thought, “we missed it”, but shortly after we pulled off at a large gravel car park of sorts. It turned out to be the lookout point for the surf spot I was thinking of, and with binoculars to my eyes, I spied the point break!

This was turning out to be a top day, not only had I had my fist surf this morning, but I was looking to have another; two surfs in one day is a delightful rarity.

Ano Nuevo is a fast, pitching, point break, and a popular spot among local surfers.
